New searchPresently there are a large number of smaller villages now incorporating unsustainable development that was approved while no local plan was in force until 2018. We think the priority should be allowing the provision of sustainable transport and green infrastructure to catch up rather than fuelling more growth and further increasing housing demand.

Yes, jobs in rural areas should be actively protected as they present valuable opportunities to reduce the carbon footprint of small rural communities. For example, preserve agricultural ties on property and reject change of use applications to turn rural businesses (like Public Houses) into dwellings.

The local plan should empower local communities to assess their own housing needs. In our Parish we have used the process of developing a Neighbourhood Plan to provide evidence to bring forward a rural exception site.

It is difficult enough to meet the new increased 'standard model' minimum targets in a sustainable manner, especially considering the important challenges of reducing carbon emissions and enhancing biodiversity.

A mixture of properties to meet identified local housing needs. In our Neighbourhood plan consultations there was only majority support for new housing for local people whose housing need has not met by commercial developers. Primarily this related to younger people and the elderly looking for smaller, more affordable properties. This includes dwellings available for social rent or shared ownership.
