This is a positive step to better reflect the wider AAP area. It would be worthwhile to consider whether a more apt name could be formed to better reflect the focus of the AAP and its focus on science, technology and innovation.

The wider AAP boundary allows for coordinated development across the full district. There may yet be different policies that relate to different parts of the AAP area, but to be able to make significant changes to the North East Cambridge area it will require a joined up approach and shared aspirations.

It would be appropriate to consider the inclusion of the Regional College as they should be part of discussions around changes to the transport infrastructure, travel mode shift and public transport.

As for Cambridge Science Park [CSP], it should more fully reflect the walking and cycling routes around the loop-road and through the central park. It should recognise the 'plaza' link from the CGB route to the south east of CSP; this will be a strategic pedestrian and cycle link into CSP that will be a high-quality public realm that will encourage more people to enter the park (on foot and cycle) through the plaza; this is part of the construction of the nearly completed CSP 22 and CSP 25 new buildings.

It is appropriate to aspirational objectives across social, environmental and economic matters.

Objective 3 should be bolder beyond having a walkable neighbourhood, but to be served with the highest-quality, rapid, affordable, convenient and accessible public transport and embrace new ways of travelling beyond the use of the private motor vehicle.

Objective 12 should be broader such that the AAP will not look to constrain future growth that is not currently envisaged, but rather could be used as a framework to allow future economic development to come forward and continue to contribute to the AAP area, its critical mass and the wider community.

The Cambridge Science Park [CSP]Plan shows a Mixed Use Local Centre to the southern boundary, where there are existing occupied buildings.

We propose the Mixed Use centre should be shown to the east, to the north of the Green Route entering the south east corner of CSP. This is where the planned 'Hub' a multiuse centre constructed, managed and developed by Trinity College) is proposed.

It should be noted that the existing pedestrian link to the Cambridge Guided Bus [CGB] at the south west corner of CSP; at the point the AAP boundary meets the CGB.

We support The Green connection running north east through CSP to cross Milton Road to increase connectivity east-west to the train station and may have to be delivered in a phased manner.

Yes, it is important for the area to be mixed use and give people the opportunity to live and work in the same area; to be able to walk and cycle to work. A high density residential development gives a greater chance for this to happen and provide a greater chance for someone to be able to live close to where they work.
A high density development will also increase the 'critical mass' of the area to bolster the ability of the area to support a truly sustainable public transport and sustainable transport infrastructure.

The focus of the area should be on the Science and Technology sector, high-quality homes and supporting and ancillary uses.

The area should be intensified as a general aspiration. The maximum benefits should be attained from the significant investment that is to take place in the area. A greater density of people (in homes or jobs) will help form a critical mass to be able to truly create a sustainable place with shops, services, facilities and high-quality public transport.

It is difficult to say at this time what ancillary uses should be included within the area. The AAP is set to undergo major change through, in particular, redevelopment and transport infrastructure. There should be a policy context formed that allows for flexibility for a wide range of supporting uses to come forward; but a policy basis that any such development has to present how it supports the objectives of the AAP area.
