Received: 13/12/2021

Respondent: CBC Limited, Cambridgeshire County Council and a private family trust

Agent: Quod

Representation Summary:

We support the approach to control biodiversity impacts from development and to work towards minimum 20% biodiversity net gain. We support the recognition of a strategic Greater Cambridge Green Infrastructure Network to encourage biodiversity enhancement. New green space as part of the development can protect Nine Wells and link parkland at Trumpington through the site with the Gogs and Magog Downs and beyond. Campus expansion offers an exceptional opportunity for strategic biodiversity net gain and habitat implementation in line with the aims of Policy BG/BG, enabled through the extension of the Area of Major Change Boundary within Policy S/CBC.

Respondent: CBC Limited, Cambridgeshire County Council and a private family trust

Agent: Quod

Representation Summary:

CBC Limited and the landowners support the aims of this policy to encourage open space and recreation provision onsite, guided by the needs and opportunities of the local area. The provision of high quality open space that enhances the Campus’ integration with Cambridge is one of the main aims of the Spatial Vision. For the Campus, its planned expansion into the identified Area of Major Change represents an excellent opportunity to provide and enhance access to open space for all Campus users and visitors and the wider neighbouring communities, especially if integrated into other existing initiatives and provision.

Representation ID: 58837

Received: 13/12/2021

Respondent: CBC Limited, Cambridgeshire County Council and a private family trust

Agent: Quod

Representation Summary:

CBC Limited and the landowners support the proposed integration of health and well being into mainstream planning policies and outcomes. Proactive, mixed use, sustainable planning can generate significant benefits for healthy living, active lifestyles and the sustainable benefits of local living. We recognise that the expansion of CBC into a full scale Innovation District with a full range of supporting uses offers the opportunity to plan at a scale and form a base where these outcomes can be optimised, supporting both R&D objectives as well as providing enhanced community benefits.

Received: 13/12/2021

Respondent: CBC Limited, Cambridgeshire County Council and a private family trust

Agent: Quod

Representation Summary:

We support the development of new facilities in appropriate locations where there is local need. At the Campus there is an identified need for the social infrastructure, community and leisure facilities that can help a community thrive, and which foster great placemaking. Social infrastructure and community uses are also particularly important for the Campus as they form a key part of the supportive environment for clusters and innovation districts, acting as the connecting mechanism between different users onsite.

WS/MU: Meanwhile uses during long term redevelopments

Representation ID: 58847

Received: 13/12/2021

Respondent: CBC Limited, Cambridgeshire County Council and a private family trust

Agent: Quod

Representation Summary:

CBC and the landowners support the inclusion of a policy encouraging temporary, meanwhile uses for large-scale developments. Such uses can help to engage communities, offer a more agile and responsive way to test demand and services before permanent commitments, and help to enliven spaces that would otherwise be barren. But they are seldom financially viable in themselves and so, while important to placemaking, must be seen in the wider challenge of realising viable, sustainable developments. There is potential for the future Campus development to take a phased approach to the development, identifying the opportunities for meanwhile uses through phased expansion.
