I very much support the idea of seeking meanwhile uses on vacant sites or in underused buildings. One user group that could particularly benefit from this could be skaters (young people primarily, but also a growing number of adult roller skaters who have picked up the sport during the pandemic). Meanwhile use could be a perfect opportunity in the winter months to provide some temporary indoor skate space, which is sorely lacking in Cambridge. Wet weather and low visibility prevents skating from taking place outdoors in winter. Providing a safe and dry place for skating would be a real boon.
