North East Cambridge Area Action Plan Issues and Options 2019

Representation ID: 33015

Received: 25/03/2019

Respondent: Orchard Street Investment Management

Agent: Turley

Representation Summary:

Whilst in principle this would enable the development to meet sustainability objectives and the aim of a 'low carbon' development. In reality, Milton Road is already very congested at peak hours and increasing employment and introducing residential development will lead to increases in traffic and therefore increased congestion at the junctions, and the wider transport network.
If the aim is to encourage a very low share of journeys to be made by car and more sustainable means promoted then these measures should be made clear and subject to public consultation.

It is noted that the Council intend to undertake a Transport Assessment, which is considered to be vital to taking the Action Plan forward. Without this information it is difficult to understand what measures would be capable of addressing a potential increase in traffic. If the aim is to encourage a very low share of journeys to be made by car and more sustainable means promoted then these measures should be made clear and subject to public consultation.
