Histon & Impington has struggled to locate new housing development due to the shape of the villages and their encirclement by green belt land. By allowing development of this site the community will gain much needed market and affordable housing whilst putting the site to a more appropriate use. The site is in a sustainable location providing housing within walking distance of the local schools, shops and amenities, thus reducing car journeys in comparison developments on the outskirts of the villages. The development would be undertaken by a local company which would create jobs, bolster the local economy and reduce travel times and emissions. The rear portion of the site is currently unused entirely and serves no real functional purpose for either the owner or the village itself. By reallocating this land it will act as resource for the local population rather than a burden on the owner.

20 units. The formula of 30 per hectare would suggest 22 units for the size of site. However, to provide safe vehicular, cycle and pedestrian access and particularly so close to a school, it is felt that a slightly lower number should be provided. However, we are happy to be advised further by the Greater Cambridge Partnership.
