Papworth Hospital has relocated away from the village with the consequent loss of over 1000 jobs. This loss of employment is incredibly significant, and the knock-on effect to the sustainability of the village as a whole must be appreciated and reflected in policy. Public transport (bus services) have reduced, and local services and businesses hit.
Papworth Everard is now no longer on a par with, e.g., Bar Hill, and other Minor Rural Centres. Instead, Papworth Everard is now on a par with Group Villages and should be accorded Group Village status as a consequence.
