The RSPB supports a policy which will protect open spaces in local communities, as they are important for physical and mental health and for nurturing people’s connection with nature (particularly when they also achieve biodiversity benefits). An RSPB report (‘Recovering Together’ – 2021) undertaken since our previous consultation response shows widespread support from people in England for green space retention and provision, and in particular the importance for improved provision amongst deprived communities (which often have much worse provision and access).
