One option would be better links to CRCs sports centre and the open space at Milton Country Park. Some areas could be mixed use e.g. basketball hoops in a urban space which also doubles as a place for music or art. Igor Stravinsky Square near the Pompidou Centre in Paris has a nice feel of mixed uses - shops with several floors of residences above, a big art gallery, public space with fountains and benches, performing artists and an area where children play football.
