Economic growth causes climate change and should not be an overarching objective. It is included in this context as part of a recited, unquestioned mantra which is incompatible with a finite planet.
To target 2050 for zero carbon is far too late. Our local expert Sir David King is clear that 2030 has to be the objective in the face of the climate emergency. 2050 is a trajectory to failure.
