I support the scope here but again want to stress that we should be trying to create local opportunities and not just opportunities for big retail chains. In that some shops in Cambridge have closed because of rents being raised, perhaps the NECAAP could be a more affordable location, creating a new, diverse, non-chain retail area. I was also dismayed that although local companies bid on operating coffee concession at Cambridge North, this inevitably went to a big chain, as the rail operator (who awards the concession) doesn't care about local development. It's important to use this opportunity to create a more local environment.
