It sits of the edge of a fragile fenland landscape bordering Ancient Monuments including Denny Abbey to the North, Wicken Fen Ramsar site, site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), a component of Fenland Special Area of Conservation (SAC) (a European site), and the Cam Washes Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).Wicken Fen and the Cam Washes are co- dependent in supporting the wide biodiversity that they sustain.
