I live in Milton. My priority is to get to Cambridge North station. That matters more than anything else. Currently I drive and park abut 10 minutes' walk away from the station entrance to avoid paying any car parking fees. Occasionally I walk from my house to the station but it is 35+ minutes, via the Jane Coston Bridge over the A14. It is long because it is a dog leg. I support the proposal for a diagonal walking/cycling route. It is vital that all such roads are as direct as possible to the station. If the walking time could be reduced to 25 minutes I would walk to the station without taking my car, unless it is raining. I would hope that there would be shops along this direct walking route so that I could buy a sandwich etc. for my train journey. Going to Tesco in Milton is still a dog leg for me.

We need more peep to travel by train. The present situation whereby people on the business park do not have a direct route to the station is very disappointing, especially for those out the busway side. I support proposals to allow entrances to the Business Park on the busway side.

It is vital that as many people take the train as possible. Having homes close to Cambridge North station is very important. As the number of users increases it should lead to an even better train service there. I am very concerned that this is all being done without any joined-up enhancements to the railway. The station has minimal facilities e.g. inadequate toilets, insufficient ticket machines etc. This situation will only be exacerbated if the number of passengers increases to three million, at the development would imply. The station must be improved. I note that the target was 800,000 per year in the third year. This was exceeded before the station had been open for 2.5 years.

I want to see the maximum number of people use Cambridge North station. The higher the apartments close to the station the better, because if people live close to it then they will be much more likely to use the railway. It must be remembered that Cambridge South station, a major employment centre as well as the hospital, will be open by the time that these apartments are built.

I a very concerned that you will be preventing me from driving to Cambridge North station, which I will want to do when a) it is raining, b) I have luggage, c) I am travelling with people who cannot walk to Milton. At the moment it is fantastically easy to get to the station by car. I would like to avoid resorting to taxis because I could not park my car. To be clear, the bus service from Milton is lousy, and I consider buses to be beneath me.

Increased train travel is one of the best things we can do in response to the climate crisis. Everything you do must consider whether it is maximising the passenger experience, which is door-to-door. If you do not do this then you are failing.
