Question 2: Is the proposed boundary the most appropriate one for the AAP?

Representation ID: 33257

Received: 25/03/2019

Respondent: The Master Fellows and Scholars of the College of Saint John the Evangelist in the University of Cambridge

Agent: Savills

Representation Summary:

If the AAP is to provide a development strategy for that area known as NEC and which is associated with significant change then it is entirely appropriate to include those areas within it as suggested in the document. The new proposed boundary now includes Cambridge Science Park and in the circumstances where their proposals also to seek to intensify the uses on their site similar to the strategy being put forward for the St Johns Innovation Park, then it is entirely appropriate that the Science Park be included within the new AAP boundary.

Question 3: In this chapter have we correctly identified the physical characteristics of the North East Cambridge area and its surroundings?

Representation ID: 33258

Received: 25/03/2019

Respondent: The Master Fellows and Scholars of the College of Saint John the Evangelist in the University of Cambridge

Agent: Savills

Representation Summary:

Surprising that no reference is made to the A14 and the elevated nature of that route at the A10 roundabout. This roundabout and its elevated position is relevant to townscape analysis since it remains an important approach towards the City having regard to the bordering of those of edges with the St John's Innovation Park and the Cambridge Science Park. As such, it is the gateway into North East Cambridge from the trunk road and is a prominent location in that respect.

Note that the Odour Report that has recently been published does not preclude development subject to technical assessments.

The College broadly supports the indicative concept plan. The College supports the identification of St John's Innovation Park as having 'opportunity for employment densification'.
Whilst there are some concerns and questions raised about the Council Officers assertions about the need for such visual connections between two significant employment areas, the College is supportive of improving linkages where they are capable of being delivered.
Overall, support linkages as expressed within the concept plan within the AAP.

Representation ID: 33262

Received: 25/03/2019

Respondent: The Master Fellows and Scholars of the College of Saint John the Evangelist in the University of Cambridge

Agent: Savills

Representation Summary:

The St John's Innovation Park comprises 9.53 hectares of office and research space and incubator space within the St John's Innovation Centre - the Innovation Centre was constructed to specifically provide for a dynamic and supportive environment to accelerate the high number of innovative firms within the Cambridge region. The Park in its wider role is seeking to ensure that move on space for those firms is available and consequently it is important that there are a range of spaces for that move and consequently a new masterplan to provide such new buildings is a key strategy for the College.
