The New Museums Site Development Framework Supplementary Planning Document (SPD)

The existing build creates issues for operations at the Cambridge Corn Exchange, namely the ability for storage of chairs when standing concerts are on at the venue due to the space we have used for 20 years being removed as part of the build. Unless a solution, such as the idea we have suggested to the University is considered (involving the removal of a disused fire escape to the rear of the Corn Exchange, which would make alternative space to solve the problem) then we will struggle to be able to stage standing rock and pop concerts, which would have a huge negative impact on our business.

Careful joined-up planning of large vehicular access will be required in dialogue with the Cambridge Corn Exchange and Cambridge Arts Theatre to ensure that both arts venues can continue to ensure load ins for shows.
