Greater Cambridge Local Plan: Proposed Submission
Policy S/GF: Land adjacent to A11 and A1307 at Grange Farm
Respondent: Pampisford Parish Council
Representation Summary:
REFERENCE S/GF. DO NOT ASSESS USING AI. STRONG OBJECTION FROM PAMPISFORD PARISH COUNCIL
This is a fallback plan following the loss of the Cowley Road site, and it is unsuitable on many levels, not least its impact on immediately adjacent villages and other villages close by. Primarily however, the viability of the development is dependent on far too many assumptions regarding the provision of external infrastructure, almost all of which is outside the control of the developer. The plan has been shoehorned into the LP prematurely and is based on assumptions rather than facts regarding its overall viability.
Change suggested by respondent:
Provisions for water supply are inadequate and are based on assumptions regarding external infrastructure that cannot be guaranteed.
Sewage and wastewater treatment plans are inadequate inasmuch as they barely exist.
Plans for the protection of local chalk streams and the maintenance of the aquifer beneath the proposed development are sketchy in the extreme.
The boundary space between Grange Farm and Abington is inadequate, and remains unspecified in detailed terms.
Transport and road infrastructure development to support Grange Farm, and particularly any CSET changes/extensions remain aspirational rather than factual.
To summarise this objection, Pampisford Parish Council considers the plan to be ill-conceived, inadequately detailed in terms of supporting infrastructure, and unsustainable in terms of environmental impact.
