Draft Greater Cambridge Local Plan for consultation

Respondent: Cambridge Graduate Orchestra
I wholeheartedly support the inclusion of a concert hall in these plans. Cambridge needs a venue which is independent of the university, suitable for both professional and amateur groups, and around 300-500 seats in size. This would take the pressure off West Road, which is large, expensive, and difficult to access - particularly now the University has tightened its parking controls. Rehearsal spaces - large enough for an orchestra, as well as smaller for chamber groups - would also be useful, as would storage space that could be used by community groups. Sufficient parking is important.
