We support the creation of approximately 3,500 skilled jobs and at least 460 training and apprenticeship opportunities at Cambridge Science Park North, which will strengthen the city’s innovation ecosystem and provide high‑value careers for local people.
We are writing to express our support for the proposed development at Cambridge Science Park North, which is being promoted for allocation through the emerging Greater Cambridge Local Plan.
As an organisation with experience in bringing together industry partners, education providers, local and national government, in the name of industry and community growth. We are writing to express our particular support for the proposals that will create a wide range of employment, training and education opportunities in the expanding mid-tech and advanced manufacturing sectors.
Our reasons for supporting this ambitious project are as follows:
1. The proposals will generate approximately 3,500 skilled jobs and at least 460 training and apprenticeship opportunities in science, technology, and mid-tech industries. This will provide local people with access to high-value careers, strengthen the city’s innovation ecosystem, and ensure that Cambridge remains competitive globally. The focus on mid-tech and advanced manufacturing addresses a critical gap in the region, enabling research and invention to translate from nearby R&D facilities, into production and tangible economic growth.
2. The development will create a well-balanced environment that integrates work, learning, leisure, and wellbeing. By combining economic, social, and environmental objectives, Cambridge Science Park North demonstrates a commitment to inclusive growth that benefits residents, employees, and future
generations alike.
3. In addition, the construction and delivery of the development itself presents a valuable opportunity to employ local people, support apprenticeships, and strengthen links between education providers, employers, and the local supply chain. This aligns closely with our aim at Constructed Pathways in supporting individuals into skilled employment and ensuring that major developments deliver lasting benefits for local communities and people.
Overall, we believe that the proposals for Cambridge Science Park North strike the right balance between innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity. They will help ensure that Cambridge remains at the forefront of global discovery while providing tangible community benefits for residents, employees, and future generations.
