Draft Greater Cambridge Local Plan for consultation

Policy S/GF: Land adjacent to A11 and A1307 at Grange Farm

Representation ID: 201669

Received: 23/01/2026

Respondent: Linton Parish Council

Representation Summary:

Linton Parish Council (LPC) supports development that aligns with the local area's character, advocating for lower density and height of properties, particularly near existing buildings.

LPC emphasises the need for housing designs that are appropriate for a village setting, rather than those suited for urban environments.

Heritage buildings should be protected from being overshadowed by new developments, requiring careful and sympathetic consideration.

Traffic management from the development must ensure that the A1307 is not adversely affected, preventing traffic congestion towards Cambridge.

LPC expresses concerns regarding the archaeological significance of the Grange Farm site.

Full text:

• In relation to design and density Linton Parish Council (LPC) would favour development, which is in keeping with the local area, with lower density, lower height of properties especially when adjacent to existing buildings.
• Consideration must be given to building appropriate housing for a village location as opposed to designs more suited to towns and cities.
• Heritage Buildings must be afforded protection from being engulfed by new dwellings and sympathetic consideration must be applied.
• Traffic from the development should be managed in such a way that the A1307 is not impacted and traffic heading towards Cambridge is not left stationary along the A1307 by Abington
• LPC raise concerns regarding the archaeological importance of the Grange Farm site.

Policy S/DE: Defined development extents

Representation ID: 201670

Received: 23/01/2026

Respondent: Linton Parish Council

Legally compliant? Yes

Sound? No

Duty to co-operate? Yes

Representation Summary:

• The “Defined Development Extents” (settlement boundary) for Linton should revert to that used in the current local plan – it should NOT include the Horseheath Road and Bartlow Road developments as these were developments that resulted from the lack of a Local Plan being in place in 2015-2018. (related to Policy S/DE)

Change suggested by respondent:

The development boundary for Linton should not include the recent Bartlow Road (Trout Beck) and Horseheath Road (Michaelotts, Spur Road, Barrows Way) developments. These were developments in the open countryside which were approved when the Local Plan was out of date. Please revert to the previous settlements boundary as per the draft Linton and Hildersham Neighbourhood Plan
