The other prerequisites are: (a) safe, comfortable and attractive streets where families feel safe riding together; (b) good, all-weather, easy to navigate cycling connections that are socially safe, maintained and not isolated-feeling; (c) a dense, well-connected grid of such safe cycle routes across the site; (d) the design of shops and buildings of all types should face and engage with the walking and cycling network, putting it 'front and central' and making walking and cycling the natural and obvious choice for short to medium-distance trips; (e) good integration with public transport.
